SHOREHAM Football Club fought back from two goals down to win a seven-goal thriller at Loxwood on Saturday.
The Mussels found themselves 2-0 behind after only 15 minutes following strikes from Gary Pritchard and Dean Wright.
Alex Laing and Rob Allan netted just before the half-hour mark to drag Mussels level but Pritchard struck again four minutes before the break to give Loxwood the lead once again.
However, Shoreham were not to be denied and Laing and Ross Myers struck in an excellent second-half display to give Mussels all three points.
Shoreham player-manager Kane Louis was particularly impressed with his side’s character in the victory.
He said: “We went 2-0 down so early on and, against a good side like Loxwood, I knew it was going to be a long way back.
“But credit to us, we got it back to 2-2 with two good goals. We then conceded a third just before the break and I was then thinking it was going to be a real test for us.
“However, the performance in the second half was great and we deserved the win.”
Loxwood began in rampant fashion and found themselves two goals to the good inside 15 minutes with goals from Pritchard and Wright.
Laing then pulled a goal back on 20 minutes with a spectacular free kick.
Allan made it 2-2 ten minutes later when he headed home.
The home side went back ahead just before the break when Pritchard bagged his second of the contest.
Shoreham were dominant in the second period and Myers’ strike made it 3-3 with 20 minutes to play.
Myers then went from hero to villain as he handled in the area and Loxwood were awarded a spot-kick. However, Shoreham keeper Nic Taylor pulled off a fine stop to keep the score level.
A remarkable turnaround was then completed with a minute to go when Laing struck his 13th goal of the season to give Mussels all thre points.
