The 32-year-old full-back has been out with an ankle injury sustained in a tackle with Reading striker Yann Kermorgant in a 2-2 draw at the Madjeski Stadium.

Rosenior has played in a few under-23 games in the past couple of months, including a 3-0 win against West Ham on Monday, and Seagulls manager Chris Hughton said: “We’ve got Liam back in the squad, which is a fair boost for us.

“He’s a very good player but he’s also a good influence and he’s an experienced player that can play in any one of three, probably more, positions. He’s a very valuable player to have around and I’m delighted to see him back in the squad.”

Left-back Gaetan Bong is making good progress but is set for longer on the sidelines with a knee injury and Hughton has ruled him out of “the next group of games”.

Sebastien Pocognoli is likely to miss the match at Forest with the groin injury which forced him off against Newcastle on Tuesday.
