Rebels keeper Mansfield scoops two awards

He was named supporters’ player of the year and players’ player of the year and Rebels boss Chris White said: “Alan deserves his awards and he was fantastic all season.

“He’s the best keeper in the league without a shadow of a doubt. With respect to the two or three other keepers we used, if he had not missed 15 games through injury, it might have made a difference on the season.”

White chose centre-back Matt Hurley as manager’s player of the season and said: “It was a very close decision between Matt and Alan but I just felt Matt was so consistent and played the most amount of games.

“He played in a couple of positions but all of the back four and Alan were outstanding.

“The Bognor game at home swung it in Matt’s favour as we played him at right-back and he kept Ben Johnson so quiet that you wouldn’t have known he was on the pitch.”

Darren Budd was named the supporters’ club’s player of the season and Ryan McBride won the golden boot award after netting 25 goals.

White is due to have a meeting with the club this week to discuss next season.

Joe Warner was named Rebels’ youth team’s players’ player of the season and also took the golden boot award.

Jack Petett won manager Ian Hart’s player of the year award and Bradley Lewis was the supporters’ player of the season.
