Poyet linked to three Midlands management jobs

Brighton fans are facing a summer of speculation surrounding their much-loved manager Gus Poyet.

The Seagulls numero uno is currently 2/1 favourite with some bookies to kick off the new season as boss of recently relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Midlands outfit is almost certain to part company with current caretaker Terry Connor after a disastrous run of form saw them lose their top flight status.

Skybet has Poyet as the frontrunner, followed by Lee Clark and Darren Ferguson, both at 5/1.

Poyet is also a best price of 12/1 to pick up where new England boss Roy Hodgson has left off at The Hawthorns, although he is considered very much an outside bet compared to the likes of Roberto Martinez, Alan Curbishley and Paul Lambert.

The Seagulls manager is also being linked to the Aston Villa hotseat, with current Villa Park boss Alex McGleish coming under increasing pressure.

Poyet is 20/1 to replace the unpopular Scot, having already been linked to the job earlier this season.

He has made no secret of his ambition to manage at the highest level but has said it would take a special offer for him to leave his project half finished here on the south coast.
