Enzo Benn, Eric Wedge-Bull and Remi Coates all struck as Oak sealed a comprehensive 3-0 home Southern Combination League Division 1 success against Seaford Town.

It was a perfect response from Ben Shoulders’ side, after they fell to defeat at Selsey last time out.

The victory sees them remain fourth in the table and just a point behind Steyning Town with a game in hand.

Shoulders was impressed with his side’s response on what proved a tricky pitch to play football on.

He said: “It was tough conditions with the pitch not being in great condition but both teams had to play on it.

“We had to change how we normally play but it was nice to know we have a different plan when needed.

“We deserved our goal lead at half-time, we had a number of chances, so it was nice to break the deadlock and it was a turning point I think.

“This week we had to win after what happened last week. It is so tight at the top of the league, anything can happen at the moment, we’ve just got to keep winning and we’ll be fine.”

Oak created a number of opportunities in the opening stages but Seaford stood firm.

With half-time approaching, Shoulders’ side took a deserved lead after 44 minutes. Benn was left in acres of space and slotted into the net.

Seaford had a couple of chances in the first few minutes after the restart, before Wedge-Bull doubled Oak’s lead.

A thunderous strike from the midfield man made it 2-0 with 49 minutes on the clock.

Oak had a lot more freedom after extending their lead, with several chances missed before a third was finally added ten minutes from time.

Substitute Coates was on hand to round off the scoring and ensure Oak returned to winning ways.
