New Rustington chairman excited by what's ahead for club

Gareth Davies was named as the SCFL division two side’s new man at the helm of the boardroom table as Jon Tucker was welcomed back for a third spell as manager.

Davies’ new role came in a statement which also said James Bennett would be vice-chairman.

The new chairman, who takes over from Trevor Waller, has been involved with Rustington for 25 years as a player, manager and committee.

Waller had been chairman for four years.

Davies is excited by the challenge ahead and appreciates it is going to be a busy summer ahead at the Recreation Ground.

He said: “It’s an honour to be handed this role. Rustington FC has a special place in my heart and I’m excited by the challenge and what the future holds.

“It’s not been the easiest of 12 months for the club with many changes in personnel and players over a short period.

“The challenge is now to build something special here and look to progress the football club both on and off the field.

“That process starts now and work has already begun on the new management committee and installing a new management team.”

Davies praised outgoing chairman Waller for his influence on the Blues.

“Trevor deserves a huge amount of praise. He enjoyed success as chairman and has steadied the ship during more challenging times.

“I have huge admiration for him and will strive to build on his fantastic work over the past few years.”
