Mussels crash to away defeat at Town

SHOREHAM Football Club lost to Eastbourne Town for the third time this month on Tuesday evening.

After exiting the Peter Bentley Cup and the FA Cup to Town, Mussels crashed to a 5-0 league defeat at The Saffrons.

Kane Louis’s went into the game looking for a third successive league win but fell behind when Wesley Tate struck on 18 minutes.

Kenny Pogue doubled Town’s lead on 36 minutes, before Jason Taylor made it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.

Pogue netted his second just past the hour, before he completed his hat-trick two minutes into injury-time.

Elsewhere in the division on Tuesday, leaders Lancing returned to winning ways with a late 2-1 victory at Pagham.

Lee Robinson hit four as second-placed Newhaven defeated Eastbourne United 6-1.

Third-placed Horsham cruised to a 7-0 win over Wick & Barnham United, while East Preston picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw at home to Broadbridge Heath.

Shoreham entertain Worthing United in the league on Friday evening (7.45pm).
