The Albion under-21 side ran out 4-0 winners in front of a crowd of 306 and Mullets boss Simon Butler was pleased with how the evening went. He said: “It’s nice to have a good crowd up here and respect to Brighton for coming along and playing here.

“Tonight meant a lot to the club as we have had some problems in recent times, so it’s great to get some fans through the gates.

“The lads are not used to playing in front of crowds like that, so they had some pressure but it was a good experience for them.”

A hat-trick from Jimmy Muitt and a Robin Deen strike was enough to see Albion cruise to a comfortable win.

Albion’s George Cole shot over early on, before Muitt opened the scoring on just four minutes when he fired home from Charlie Harris’s cross.

It was 2-0 just ten minutes later as Deen hit a low right-foot drive into the bottom corner, after Mullets keeper James Fernandes had saved a Tom Dallinson strike.

Bradley Barry could have made it three on 36 minutes after he latched on to a through ball, but he failed to find a finish when he was one-on-one with Fernandes, who made some excellent stops throughout the game.

Arundel made a bright start to the second period and could have pulled a goal back through Joe Warner, although hs shot fizzed across goal and went just wide of the upright.

Muitt then grabbed his second of the game as he raced on to a through ball and beat Fernandes to the ball to slot into an empty net.

Just seven minutes later, Muitt headed home to complete his hat-trick.
