Mile Oak Football Club secured their spot in this year’s SCFL Division 1 Challenge Cup quarter-finals with victory at Ringmer last night.

Efforts in each half from Jamie McKenzie and Stuart Garrod helped Ben Shoulders’ side to a 2-1 victory.

Oak’s reward is a home tie against either Storrington or AFC Varndeanians in the next round and Shoulders was pleased to see his side progress.

He said: “This is the cup I have told the lads from the start we are going to go for.

“We made life hard for ourselves, like we always do, it’s starting to become a thing now where we just don’t put games to bed but we see them out, which is good.”

McKenzie fired Oak ahead eight minutes before the break but Jo Tubon got Ringmer level on 52 minutes.

Mile Oak were not to be denied and Garrod netted 22 minutes from time to ensure Oak progressed.
