LIVE & INTERACTIVE - BCC final: Worthing FC v Horsham

WORTHING Football Club face a showdown with Horsham tonight (Wednesday, May 2) at Woodside Road to retain their Brighton Charity Cup crown.

Rebels will be looking to end the season on a high after missing out on the Ryman League Division 1 South play-offs, in what is a repeat of last year’s final, while Horsham will also be hoping for something to cheer about, having been relegated from the Premier Division after finishing a dismal season at the foot of the table.

Chris White, who guided his Worthing side to a 1-0 victory over Hornets in the final last season, said: “It doesn’t matter if you’re playing in the FA Cup or the Egg Cup, a cup final is a cup final and it will be good to try to finish the season with a trophy.

“The lads have been great and deserve to win something and we also want to win something for the club and for the fans, who have been great all season.”

Rebels’ 25-goal top-scorer Ryan McBride and defender Glen Woodburn, who are both serving league suspensions for red cards, will both be available for Rebels as the competition is not FA-affiliated and the official season came to a close on Saturday.

Sam O’Regan comes also comes in the squad, although Tom Lawley and Matt Piper both look set to miss out through injury.

Former Rebels manager, now Horsham boss Simon Colbran, is set to miss out on a return to Woodside Road, along with a number of players who are unavailable, and Colbran has spoken angrily of the scheduling of the match.

Kick-off tonight is 7.45pm. For anyone that can’t make the match read our live and interactive coverage click here.
