Things were looking bleak for Wickers as they trailed by two-goals heading into the last ten minutes of their Southern Combination League Division 1 clash at Common.

However, John Kilgarriff’s side were not to be denied and efforts from Jacob Cook and Andy McDowell helped them take a point.

Wickers manager Kilgarriff felt his side could have taken all three points and said: “We were dominant for long periods and deserved the victory. It’s a really good point but I think we come away a little annoyed not to win it.

“We had a great chance right at the end to snatch it but it wasn’t to be. It’s another point in the right direction for us.”

Lewis Hole netted on five minutes to hand the home side an early lead.

Back came Wickers, with McDowell netting his fourth goal in just two league matches following his hat-trick on Saturday, with 20 minutes on the clock.

Common were back in front before the break as Harry Saville struck 17 minutes later.

Cameron Burgon looked to have handed his side all three points as he netted 17 minutes from time.

Wickers were given some hope heading into the closing stages as Jacob Cook bagged his first Southwick goal.

Then with three minutes left, McDowell struck from the spot to help Wickers to a 3-3 draw.
