LANCING Football Club continued their pre-season preparations this afternoon a clash against Eastbourne Borough on the 3G pitch at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Marsh Barn Lane training ground.
It proved to be a difficult afternoon for the Lancers as they slipped to a 5-1 defeat.
Eastbourne, who play three divisions above Lancing in the National South, lead by four goals at the break.
Richard Whittington’s side were much-improved in the second and Lewis Finney grabbed a consolation goal 15 minutes from time.
Despite the loss Whittington felt it was an ideal test for his side and said: “It was a really difficult game for us against a top team.
“But we got what we wanted from the with fitness levels tested and minutes for the players.”
