Golds in pole position for second place

LITTLEHAMPTON Football Club moved into second place in County League Division 1 with a 3-0 win over East Grinstead in their top-of-the-table clash on Saturday.

Golds’ goals came from Jason Jarvis and George Gaskin, with two, and they will finish second if they win their remaining two games, at champions East Preston on Monday and at Newhaven on May 3.

EP won 3-1 at home to Lingfield with goals from Darren Boswell and Evan Archibald, with two.

Lancing remain in the bottom three after a 2-1 defeat at home to Dorking Wanderers. The visitors led 2-0 before Jonno Melia netted for Lancers.

Arundel stay three points above Lancing after losing 3-0 at home to Crowborough.

Elsewhere in Division 1, Shoreham lost 1-0 at home to Pagham and bottom-of-the-table Worthing United crashed to a 11-0 loss at home to Horsham YMCA.

Wick & Barnham struck twice in the final three minutes to win 4-3 at home to Eastbourne United, who started the day top of Division 2.

Matt Noble, Joss Parsons, with two, and Kerry Hardwell scored for Wick.

Broadbridge Heath took over at the top with a 4-1 victory at home to Steyning Town. Dave Harris was on target for Steyning.

Lloyd Skinner scored the only goal as Mile Oak won 1-0 at home to Storrington.

In Division 3, Ferring thrashed Billingshurst 6-0 as Josey Stakim and Barney Boutwood scored braces, with Sean O’Reilly and an own goal their other scorers.

Clymping suffered a 4-0 reverse away to Roffey.
