The match was played at Lancing’s Culver Road ground as EP’s Lashmar pitch was waterlogged.

EP went ahead in first-half injury-time when Mike Huckett tapped home after Darren Boswell’s shot was saved.

Liam Baitup doubled East Preston’s lead with a 25-yard lob on 57 minutes, before EP added a third in the first minute of stoppage time when Joe Shelley scored from the penalty spot.

Delighted EP boss Dominic Di Paola said: “The conditions weren’t great and sometimes you have to win ugly, which we did today. We tried to play some football but it wasn’t happening. I can’t fault any of the lads today, they all did brilliantly and worked hard.

“Thanks must go to Sussex FA and Lancing FC to allow us to use their ground at such short notice.”

EP will host St Andrews in the next round on February 15.
