Confused? Don't be! Chichester City Ladies are nothing to do with Chichester City Women

We reported on Friday how a new women's team had been formed by Chichester City FC - which the ladies used to be part of.

The new team will be called Chichester City Women and will also run an under-16 team next season.

It comes a few months after Chichester City Ladies broke away from the main Chichester City club and took up residence at Selsey FC.

Now Chi City Ladies have issued a statement to clarify the new team at Oaklands Park is nothinng to do with them and they are not going back to their old home.

Neither Chi City or Chi City Ladies have gone public on what caused the split, and it will be interesting to see how the area supports two different set-ups next season - and whether the two rival clubs may even play each other in a cup competition or at under-16 level.

The Chichester City Ladies statement by Sam Ashton, who chairs the club, was headed 'To help with any confusion' and said: "So there seems to be some confusion happening at the moment, so I thought I would provide a brief update from Chichester City Ladies FC. We are not returning to Oaklands Park!

"We will be playing in tier three of the women’s football pyramid, and still playing in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division.

"We remain in green and white, we will continue to provide outstanding facilities within Bunn Leisure Stadium, home of Selsey FC, for all our home games.

"We have a clear vision of where we would like to continue to strive to provide football for all our members of Chichester City Ladies team, Chichester City development team and our five youth teams, not forgetting our new Inclusive disability team for season 2020-21.

"We at Chichester City Ladies and Youth FC have a very strong management committee which continues to grow from strength to strength. I cannot thank the ladies and gents who work so hard together to keep this Club as one through some very challenging times.

"As soon as we are allowed back to play, you will be seeing a lot more green and white! Stay safe, Stay well."
