Catalan star arrives at Amex - Vicente new deal expected

Catalonian right-back Bruno Saltor arrives on a free transfer from Valencia after passing a medical yesterday afternoon (Monday, July 25).

He joins Iñigo Calderón and Vicente in the Seagulls ranks – with the later expected to sign a new deal at the club over the coming days.

Saltor, 31, has signed a two year deal and Brighton manager Gus Poyet believes he has what it takes to help the Seagulls compete at the top end of the Championship this season.

“Bruno has a great amount of top-level experience in La Liga, the Champions League and the Europa League, and to bring a player of his quality is a coup for us,” he said.

“He will give us competition at right-back, along with Iñigo Calderón, and the pair of them give us great options in that position.”

Saltor made 17 appearances for Valencia last season, including a pair of appearances against Premier League outfit Stoke City in the Europa League.

Saltor played more than 60 times for Valencia after joining the Mestalla side in 2009 – including a host of matches alongside Vicente.

Brighton have also been linked with a loan move for Arsenal’s Spanish youngster Ignasi Miquel.

The Albion’s squad now has players from 17 different countries in it.
