Brighton move for player who turned down Milan

Gus Poyet looks set to succeed where AC Milan failed in convincing Jeremy Balmy to turn his back on Le Harve.

The attacking midfield player was the subject of intense media speculation in November, with Spurs, Arsenal and Valencia all linked to the talented teenager.

However, he stayed at Le Havre and seems to have since dropped off the radar of the clutch of top European clubs who were once trailing him – leaving the door open for the Albion.

Balmy has been training with the Seagulls and has appeared in pre season and reports suggest Poyet is about to table an offer.

Despite not yet being out of his teens, he has already rejected an earlier move to the San Siro and one of Italy’s biggest clubs.

When approached by Milan, Balmy chose to stay in France to continue his footballing education. Speaking last year he said, “I chose Le Havre for their policy of growth and training.

“I heard about this offer from Milan but I think I made the right choice for my game.”

Brighton will now be hoping he sees something similar in the development programme being put in place at the Albion.
