SOUTHWICK Football Club manager John Kilgarriff is hoping his side can push on for the rest of the season, after being named the County League Division 3 team of the month for December.

Wickers sit fourth in the table and are unbeaten in five games in all competitions.

Southwick are just six points behind leaders Bosham, with three games in hand. Langney sit second, three points ahead of Wickers, with Sidlesham third, two points ahead of Southwick but they have played two more games.

Kilgarriff said: “We’re on a nice unbeaten run but have a hard game at home to Sidlesham on Saturday. With Sidlesham and Bosham dropping points last weekend, it’s all there for ourselves and Langney to pull away now.

“My aim at the start of the season was to finish second and get promotion. From where we are now, the talk in the camp is that we want to go on and win it.

“If we beat Langney when we play them, we’ll be level on points with them but they’ll be ahead of us on goal difference.

“We either need to try to make up the goal difference or hope they drop points elsewhere.”

Wickers have signed defender Lee Denyer, who has previously played for Shoreham and Burgess Hill, from East Preston and striker Matt Pryor has also joined. However, forward Jamie McKenzie has left to join Hassocks.
