Amex Stadium to host this year’s Sussex Senior Cup final

THE 2011 Sussex Senior Cup Final will be the first match played at Brighton & Hove Albion’s American Express Community Stadium – after member clubs voted unanimously in favour of the Sussex County FA’s flagship final being played at the new stadium.

The final, to be played on Saturday, July 16, with a 3pm kick-off, will be the first game of the Albion’s ramp-up programme this summer – required to gain a safety certificate ahead of the 2011-12 season. In line with the safety assessment criteria, the capacity will be limited to 10,000.

The Sussex County FA will receive an allocation of tickets for their members, in line with the competition’s rules.

Albion will put the remaining tickets on sale, giving Amex 1901 Club members and season ticket holders priority for the first competitive fixture at the club’s new home.

Albion chief executive Martin Perry said: “I am delighted the Sussex County FA and its member clubs have seen the enormous benefit of the final being the first historic fixture at the Amex. For the teams still in the competition it is sure to provide an extra incentive to reach the final. For the Albion, it gives us an ideal ramp-up event – ahead of our own flagship friendly, which will be the official opening, and that long-awaited first league game next August.”

Sussex County FA chairman Peter Bentley added: “We are delighted to be invited to the Amex to play the final on what will be an historic occasion. “This demonstrates the co-operation that exists between the SCFA and the senior clubs in the county for the benefit of football and its fans. It will provide a great occasion for the players and fans of the clubs who reach the final, and give those teams the opportunity to play in front of such a large crowd in such a wonderful stadium.”

Full ticketing details will be announced at a later date.
