Amex expansion plans brought forward - 30,000 seats by end of season

Brighton could be playing in front of more than 30,000 fans at The Amex by the end of the new season.

The club had originally planned to increase the stadium’s capacity in several stages, with the final 2,000 or so being added to the northern section of the ground during the 2013-14 season.

But, after unprecedented demand for season tickets – with the club selling almost 23,000 this term – these extra seats are now being put in place sooner, and should be ready for the last few games of this season.

The Amex will start the new campaign with a 28,000 capacity but will end up with a whopping 30,750 by the time the club finishes the campaign, including an extra 500 hospitality seats expected to go in around December.

It will work out cheaper for the Albion to complete the work in one go, rather than separate stages.
