Albion after Manchester City left back

Former England left back Wayne Bridge is a transfer target for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls have asked his parent club Manchester City if they can take the defender on loan and the Premier League champions have said the Albion are welcome to him – and will even cover the majority of his £90,000 a week wages.

Gus Poyet was linked with a move for Bridge – who has not made a top flight appearance since December 2010 – last season, but the player was reluctant to drop down to the Championship.

Poyet will try and convince Bridge that a spell on the south coast would put him back in the shop window – particularly as the left back position is one of the key areas the manager has decided needs attention.
