Leaders Southwater had the week off, so second-placed Arundel took full advantage with a thumping 200-run win at West Chilt to go top.

Inserted on a dry surface despite heavy overnight rain, the visitors chalked up 293-3 off the full 49 overs.

Joel Crook smashed an unbeaten 159 with four sixes and 24 fours as the hone side’s threadbare bowling attack was exposed again. In reply, Chilt subsided to 92 all out.

Ram are up to third following a low-scoring home win against struggling East Preston. EP were skittled for 92 after dismissing Ram for just 140.

Felbridge ended Clymping’s good run with victory on the coast and Littlehampton won again this week at fading St Andrews.

So on current form it now looks to be between Arundel, Ram and Southwater for promotion with Arundel having played a game more.

At the bottom, Chilt and Saints sit just above EP and Clymping who have both been in the drop zone most of the season.

In Division 2, Horsham Trinity won the battle of the top two at Victory Road and have opened up a 40-point gap between themselves and third placed Chipps.

Trinity made 194 - Ben Chappels making 64 - before Nigel Smith took a fifer as Broadwater were dismissed for 148.

Broadbridge Heath put in a dominant display to hammer Three Bridges 3rd by 153 runs.

Bridges won the toss and decided to bowl on a pitch which had some damp patches after the heavy overnight rain.

Craig Skilton (31) and Neil Charman (23) gave Heath a solid start but it was the middle order of Jordan Ruff (64), Mike Stocker (46) and Thomas Endacott (51) who took Heath to their big total of 245-6.

Robb Legg (3-65) was the main wicket taker.

In reply, Bridges lost wickets at regular intervals and were never really in the chase. Youngster Joe Walker batted superbly for his 25 and Mike Ripley (28) was the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

For Heath, Stocker completed a good all round performance taking 5-25.

Heath fielded brilliantly and saw three one-handed catches in what was a complete display by the home side.

Storrington’s game against Crawley Eagles 3rd was washed out.
