Findon skipper relishing Sussex final of Village Cup

FINDON Cricket Club will be hoping to take a step closer to returning to Lord’s on Sunday when they host Rottingdean in the Sussex final of the National Village Cup.

Findon skipper Barry Meaney is hoping the competition can continue to provide a welcome distraction from their somewhat indifferent league campaign – while they are also out for revenge at the weekend.

Meaney said: “We’re looking forward to it. We’ve got Rottingdean and it’s our first game at home in the competition this year.

“They got all the way to Lord’s last year and knocked us out in a close-scoring game last year, so it’ll be nice to try to get some revenge for that. Cup games are sometimes nice to have at times to get away from the league.”

The match at Long Furlong starts at 2pm.
