Broadwater needed just nine points going into the game to win the league but second-placed Ram’s home game with Wisborough Green was cancelled, which meant Broadwater would be crowned champions regardless of what happened in their game.

However, they still made sure they got the points they needed as they picked up all ten batting points for posting 210-6 from their 49 overs.

Graham Merritt-Blann top-scored with 46, James Iago struck 44 not out and Gareth Challen hit 44.

Felbridge finished their reply on 200-9 after an unbroken 23-run last-wicket stand between Chris Richens (14 not out) and Richard Milligan (19 not out).

James Salisbury led the way with 4-64 from 15 overs and Iago claimed 2-46.

Nigel Waller’s Broadwater side have won the title with eight victories from their 14 league matches this season, losing just once, and could now go up into the Sussex League.

Broadwater last won the league in 2009 but this season was just their second back in the top flight after earning promotion from Division 2 as runners-up in 2014.
