Australian stars heading to Arundel

A NUMBER of current and future Australian Test players will play a two-day game at Arundel Castle next month.

An Australian A fixture will see a team captained by Brad Haddin take on a team captained by Steven Smith on June 3 and 4.

The game will be between a high-quality group of youngsters, chosen by the Australian national selection panel, who have all tasted state selection and under-19 World Cup action, either in 2010 or 2012.

Test players Haddin, Usman Khawaja, Smith, Moises Henriques, Nathan Lyon and James Pattinson will also be involved in the match.

Arundel Castle secretary Joe Hudson said: “We’re delighted to be able to host this event for Australia ‘A’ at the Arundel Castle Cricket Ground as they represent cricket at its very best.”

Play starts at 11am each day and tickets cost £10 (including parking), with under-16s free.

Later next month, Sussex County Cricket Club have their annual festival at Arundel, between June 12-16.

Sussex entertain local rivals Surrey in the County Championship from Wednesday, June 12, until Saturday, June 15.

Then, on Sunday, June 16, Sussex play Northamptonshire in the YB40 competition.
