Carden rescues a point for Oak

MILE OAK FC ended their run of two successive 6-2 defeats with a late equaliser against Broadbridge Heath on Saturday.

Scott Carden hit a 79th-minute leveller after Paul Eaton had squared Dave Ayre's cross. Oak then could have won it.

Carden's free kick was headed wide by Chris Paine and Jamie Ash fired an Ayre cross against the bar from close-range.

However, with two minutes to go, Oak were thankful for the point when keeper Mark Stuart made an excellent double save.

In a forgettable first half, the only action of note came when Heath went ahead on 31 minutes. A long ball from right-back allowed left-back Nathan Sleat to fire home.

Oak almost equalised at the start of the second period in fortuitous circumstances when Nick Lansdale's long ball from defence bounced over Heath's keeper but went just wide.

Danny Hills could have made the game safe for Heath with 15 minutes left but shot into the side-netting.
