The four-round middleweight contest was battled out at the Camden Centre, London, with the 22-year-old competing in just his second professional bout to make it a perfect start to his pro career with two successes from two.

He’s trained by his father and well respected former pro boxer Leigh.

Wicks came out in the first round confident and dominated the centre of the ring with some good solid jabs and heavy body shots which took an early toll on his Eastbourne-based opponent.

This commanding start was carried into the second with Hillman often defending himself on the ropes and struggling to contain the high work rate and combination shots landed by Wicks.

The Worthing man then began to relax slightly into the third and was caught with a few wild punches from Hillman.

But Wicks quickly recovered with two big head shots which saw his opponent holding on for the bell.

Hillman came out in the last round throwing big shots looking for a way back into the contest.

However, Wicks kept his defence tight and picked of him off with more solid shots and a heavy left hook that left his opponent hanging once again and take the fight to a points decision.

Wicks was judged the winner without losing a single round and his manager, Kaz Evans, is hopeful of a bright fiture for the talent.

He said: “I’ve got high hopes for Max and this was a strong performance.
