Sony confirms more PS5 stock will be available by the end of the year - where you can order

Gamers who failed to secure the new PlayStation 5 before its launch day have been offered a glimmer of hope, as Sony has pledged to stock more in shops before the end of the year.

The next generation console launched last week, with its developer saying it had received “unprecedented” demand, making it their “biggest console launch ever”.

Gamers across the country struggled to secure the new console on its Thursday 19 November UK launch day, with many suffering through long online queues and crashing websites.

John Lewis, GAME and Tesco all saw their websites crash during the morning rush for orders.

Because of the current national lockdown in England, the PS5 was not available to purchase in physical stores.

PlayStation tweeted a message of thanks to “gamers everywhere” for making the launch so successful.

It was then confirmed that “more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year”, with shoppers advised to stay in touch with their local retailers.

We want to thank gamers everywhere for making the PS5 launch our biggest console launch ever. Demand for PS5 is unprecedented, so we wanted to confirm that more PS5 inventory will be coming to retailers before the end of the year - please stay in touch with your local retailers.

“Absolutely everything is sold”

The announcement comes after Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, Jim Ryan, said that the console has completely sold out globally.

Speaking to TASS news agency, he said: “Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold.

“I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.”

Where can I order one?

Currently, all the major UK suppliers have no PlayStation in stock.

Shoppers can check GAME, Amazon, Currys, Very, John Lewis, Asda and Tesco’s websites to check when the console will be expected to restock.
