Restoring tram

Just a line to thank all the visitors to Brighton Modelworld who stopped and shopped or donated at The Tram 53 Society stand.

This year, we exhibited an amazing scale model in working order of one of Brighton’s trams from the 1930s, tram no.74, kindly loaned by Brighton Museum.

They helped us raise nearly £500, which will go towards the restoration of Brighton’s last remaining tram.

We have now started to renew the wooden body and the metal chassis, an expensive undertaking but very worthwhile.

With continued help and support, we can increase the pace of restoration. To check how it’s going and to help or donate, look at www. brightontram53.org.uk

Once the tram is restored to its former glory, we hope to have somewhere to run her in the city as a tourist attraction for all to enjoy.
