I am writing with reference to the opening once a month of the new Adur Ferry Bridge.
A bit late in the day for this comment, however I am guessing that something like 25 per cent of the £10million it cost to build the bridge was spent on the centre section opening.
First question is, what for?
Anything needing to pass through could only moor up between it and the next bridge, about a quarter of a mile up the river.
Now, I understand, for maintenance reasons, the bridge will be opened once a month.
Why not lock the bridge permanently in a shut position and save this ongoing expense?
