I am pleased to see that the people of Southwick are fighting to save the Square.
The first thing that is needed is a better bus service. I live in Portslade and used to do my shopping in the Square, went to the library, attended many activities in the community centre and belong to the Methodist Church. Since my husband had to give up his car due to ill-health, we hardly go there at all.
The 46 bus is unreliable and takes longer than walking, which we cannot do now.
My daughter lives at the very top of Mile Oak and she, too, loves to go to Southwick, but only has one bus, which goes nowhere near. She walks or gets a lift from someone.
We need a direct bus from Mile Oak, through the village, down Locks Hill and along to Southwick Street, the Square and on to Shoreham.
I’m sure it would be well-used and I would love to go to the Barn Theatre again.
A weekly market, too, would be welcome, with stalls selling clothes, as at Worthing. What do others think?
