LETTER: Prosperity

We are having to endure austerity because we disconnected from our traditional past which is to trade and prosper.

To do this we need merchants, for they are the machinery of prosperity.

Merchants keep goods and currency circulating.

Our traditional past, the British way of doing business, is evident in the emerging economies of Asia.

To be prosperous means that even the poorest of the poor has more than enough money to live on.

To be prosperous requires patience, perseverance and graft which is not so evident now as it was in the 1800’s.
