Those who have been campaigning in recent months against the Bupa MSK contract initially being awarded in West Sussex took little pleasure in The King’s Fund report last week.
It recognised that the coalition’s healthcare reforms have been ‘damaging’ and ‘disastrous’ and that they have contributed to the current crisis in the NHS.
They have wasted billions and left a strategic leadership vacuum where nobody was now in charge of the most important public service we have - the one that keeps people alive.
As reported in last week’s Herald, the Coastal West Sussex Clinical Commissioning Group’s own figures show that the MSK process has cost nearly £350,000.
One would like to think that in the light of this recent failure and the King’s Fund report, the CCG will think very carefully about diverting any further funds away from the healthcare services that deliver healthcare best – Worthing, Southlands and St Richard’s hospitals.
