Air Aces mourn patron Capt Eric “Winkle” Brown

Arun & Chichester (Air) Enthusiasts Society (known as Air Aces) was saddened to learn of the recent death of Capt Eric “Winkle” Brown.

Air Aces had been honoured to have both Capt Brown and John Farley as their patrons.

Capt Brown had attended Air Aces’ third anniversary evening in January this year, where he was presented with a crystal fruit bowl.

He then gave an amazing after-dinner speech, to huge acclaim from those attending.

A Royal Navy captain, Eric was an exceptional test pilot, who held two world records.

He was always generous with his time and knowledge.

It was a privilege to have known him and to have heard his lectures.

He will be a great loss to the world of aviation and fondly remembered by all the members of Air Aces.
