I am writing to thank hundreds of generous fundraisers from across the South of England, who raised an incredible £335,000 for the British Heart Foundation last year, by holding their own fundraising events.
A record-breaking £12million was raised for the nation’s heart charity last year through community fundraising activities and groups across the UK. Around £1.7million of this was
achieved by people organising their own fundraisers as part of the BHF’s Do Your Own Thing campaign.
People across the South of England really joined in the spirit and showed they’re all heart, by hosting everything from fun runs, to charity quiz nights and bake sales to help support our life saving research. Fundraisers in Kent and East Sussex raised nearly £47,000 and those in West Sussex, East Hampshire and South Surrey raised a further £51,000.
To raise such an incredible amount for our research is extraordinary and we’re so grateful to everyone in the South of England for coming together, joining the fight against heart disease and fundraising for the BHF. Every single donation, big or small, helps bring us a step closer to beating heart disease.
Heart disease is heartless. Too many lives are lost to these terrible conditions each year. But with every fundraising event we hold, and every pound we raise, we can help save more lives.
It’s amazing to have raised such an impressive figure last year. For anyone interested in helping us to raise even more, there’s lots of hints and inspiration, as well as a free fundraising pack, available on www.bhf.org.uk/yourway.
