PUPILS from Shoreham College visited Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat Station for a tour of the boathouse.

Not wanting to turn up to the lifeboat station empty handed, the year-one pupils decided to have a cake sale a few days before their visit, to raise some money for Shoreham RNLI.

Mrs Kathryn Stokes, head of juniors, said: “We had a truly magnificent response with some extremely yummy cakes and cookies being donated, and eaten.

“Between pupils, parents and staff, we managed to raise an amazing £247.45.”

A cheque was delivered to the lifeboat station, on Kingston Beach, by Miss F. Simmons and her year-one class when they visited.

Miss Simmons said: “The class met the crew and volunteers to learn about the very important work carried out by all concerned.”

The lifeboat station is open 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. There are 15 volunteer tour guides and an RNLI souvenir shop. Call 01273 596376 for more details.
