Deano Boroczky, who is mentored by judge Paloma Faith, will go up against Megan Reece, singing a cover of Macy Gray’s ‘I Try’.

The pair will duette the song to the four judges, who will then advise who they think should go through to the knockout stage, with Paloma ultimately having the final say.

“It was quite nervewracking,” said 27-year-old Deano, of Northcote Road.

“I wasn’t as nervous as when I did the blind auditions because I was just so grateful to get this far, but it was tough.

“Megan has become a real friend. We both have children and we have a lot in common, so when we did the song we agreed we were going to duette it together, and not as a battle.”

Deano also has a growing friendship with Paloma, who has taken him out in London on numerous occasions.

He said: “She took a few of us to see Vintage Trouble, a band she used to support. She was brilliant, she had us all up dancing with Paloma, and then she joined them on stage and stole the show.”
