Named ‘Doorhenge’ based on the ancient site Stonehenge, the doors were set up by ECE Architecture near Worthing Pier as part of the summer solstice.

The five coloured doorways have provided thousands of photo opportunities and each doorway is now being sold separately to provide funds for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice.

ECE managing director Stuart Eatcock said: “The public response to the doorways has been amazing. Many people have asked about buying them over the last month so we thought it would be a lovely way to complete the circle to sell them to the highest bidder and raise some money for a very good cause.”

Each of the 2.3 metre tall doorways will come in five parts - two railway sleeper foundations, two sides and a top, and are sold as seen, with some wear and tear from their time on display, and will have to be assembled by the buyer.

To enter a bid, readers are asked to submit a sealed bid to [email protected] along with colour preference and number of doorways by 5pm on Thursday July 14.

Successful bids will then be informed on Friday July 15, and buyers are asked to make a purchase directly to the hospice, before receiving a free delivery of the doors on Sunday July 17.
