Worthing dad believed to be among plane crash victims

Dad-of-one Daniele Polito, 23, is thought to have been travelling in Matt’s BMW when the Hawker Hunter jet crashed.

It is feared his baby, three-year-old Georgio Polito, has been left without a father following the Shoreham Airshow crash.

His son’s mum, Tanya Ellen, said she was visited by police at her home in East Preston on Sunday to discuss his disappearance.

She confirmed yesterday that he had still not been found but stressed it wasn’t until he was formally identified would she know he was dead.

She said: “I don’t even know what is going on, but I am being strong for my son.

“If it is the worst outcome then Daniele will be very, very missed.”

Tayna, who is no longer an item with Daniele, spoke after writing about her concerns on Facebook.

She wrote that Matt’s sister had informed her that he died alongside him but she had yet to hear it from police herself.

On Sunday she wrote: “It isn’t yet confirmed about Daniele but it really isn’t looking too good.

“I’m sure when, or if, it is confirmed you will all hear about it on here or on the news. Thank you everyone for the messages though.”

On the morning after the accident, she wrote: “If any one hears from or can get hold of Daniele Polito or Matt Jones please message me ASAP .

“They were in the car together on the road of the accident at the time it happened!”

Later that day she added: “I have the police coming to visit me soon. Nothing has been confirmed as yet. Just please no more, RIP, as it is too hard to believe.”

Daniele’s family declined to comment at their family home in Worthing.

Friend Courtt Grimster wrote on Facebook on Sunday: “Fingers crossed for Daniele Polito a great friend to many, a father to a young little boy and to all those of his family members.

“A young man with his life ahead of him.

“My heart goes out to everyone that knows him and that are praying that someone hears from him since he hasn’t been seen nor heard of since 12 o’clock yesterday afternoon.

“He was travelling in the car with Matt Jones, another person close to my partner who has been pronounced dead in his car makes it quiet worrying.

“Praying we hear from you soon mate x.”

Friend Reece Gregson added: “Daniele Polito what a lad my thoughts are with your family and little one always laughing and smiling never down beat top lad x x.”

Matt’s family had gathered at his home in Littlehampton to grieve.

His dad, Stephen Jones, 61, said: “We really can’t get our heads around it at the moment.”
