Worthing and Shoreham teens use art to keep crime free

Sam Measor, 17, from Shoreham, and Jazmine Eely, 16, from Worthing, took part in the three-week course, which was co-ordinated by the county council’s youth support service.

Sam said: “The course has got me focused on something positive and helped me cut down on my drug use.

“This has helped my whole situation at home.

“I have learnt so many skills that I can use in the future.”

Jazmine admitted not wanting to attend the course at first but said it meant “staying off the streets and out of trouble”.

She said: “I am so happy I did it. I have met loads of people that have helped me.”

Sam plans to study painting and decorating at college.

Sam and Jazmine were part of a group of seven young offenders from West Sussex who attended the course.

Youth worker Luke O’Keefe said: “The course is a fantastic opportunity for young people to make some positive changes in their life.”

The course included music production, photography, graphic design, and numeracy and literacy sessions.
