Wildlife threats are on the agenda

THREATS to local birds and other wildlife are to be discussed a meeting held by the Shoreham Society.

The event at St Peter’s Church Hall, West Street, Shoreham, on Friday, July 18, will include a presentation by RSPB conservation officer Alison Giacomelli about what the organisation is doing to address increasing challenges facing wildlife.

Alison will outline the RSPB’s wide-ranging work including managing world-class nature reserves, working with farmers to benefit farmland birds and protecting special habitats from harmful development.

“I will highlight the problems facing our wildlife,” she said.

“But I will also showcase some of the projects we’re working on to reverse their fortunes.”

The meeting is at 7.30pm and is part of the society’s ongoing events programme.

Refreshments will be available and entrance is £2 for Shoreham Society members and £3 for non-members.
