WHAT DO YOU THINK: A27 closures at Lancing, Sompting and Shoreham

The work to improve drainage on the dual carriageway will take place on a two-mile section of the road between Dankton Lane, Sompting, and the Shoreham flyover.

Main work on the 14-week scheme will start on October 1, with a break over the Christmas period.

Day work will be carried out between 9.30am and 4.30pm, with overnight work taking place between 8pm and 6am.

There will be lane closures during the day, and full closures, or a contraflow in operation, overnight.

Preparations will begin on Monday, September 17, and will largely take place off the main carriageways.

Where work is on the carriageway, off-peak lane closures will be used.

Besides the drainage improvements, there will also be some technical repairs and parts of the road will be resurfaced from the west of the Manor Road roundabout to Busticle Lane.

Exhibition

A public exhibition about the roadworks for drivers, residents and businesses will be held on Thursday (August 30).

Highways Agency project staff will be on hand to answer questions at the event, open from 3pm to 7pm, at the Harriet Johnson Centre (the old community centre), in Loose Lane, Sompting.
