West Sussex County Council consults on care service fees

ADULT care providers are being invited to take part in a consultation on care service fees.

The consultation, which runs until Wednesday, June 6, covers residential and nursing fees for older people, working age customer groups and home care services.

This is the first time West Sussex County Council has conducted a formal consultation on the subject.

Providers will be able to fill out an online survey for each service they provide and give their views on the council’s proposed fee levels for this year.

They will also be able to attend a number of discussion events with various provider forum representatives.

A West Sussex County Council spokesman said: “All of this will provide the council with a better understanding of the actual cost of delivering care in West Sussex.”

The proposals include a 2.57 per cent increase in fees from April this year for residential and nursing care for older people.

However, the proposal is for fees to remain the same for services for people with learning difficulties, brain injuries, mental health and drug and alcohol problems.

Fees would also remain the same for home care services.

Deputy cabinet member Graham Tyler said: “We want to hear the views of providers at this formative stage, on the proposals and for them to support us to understand the actual cost of care.”
