The UK’s annual celebration of cycling starts on Saturday June 13 and West Sussex County Council is marking the occasion by hosting bikers’ breakfast events in Chichester and Worthing to encourage commuters to cycle to work instead.

The first ever National Cycle Challenge is also being held to coincide with Bike Week.

The workplace challenge aims to encourage as many employees as possible to go on a bike ride for at least 10 minutes between June 8 and June 28 and log their journey on a website.

A number of prizes are available including a holiday for two to New Zealand.

The National Cycle Challenge builds on the success of local challenges, such as the Horsham and Chichester Cycle Challenges held in 2014.

Anyone who previously participated in these challenges can take part in the 2015 national challenge by logging in at the Horsham website or the Chichester website.
