THE weather may be getting colder but things are hotting up for The Wellington Wailers.

The sea shanty group has gone from strength to strength since its appearance at The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival in June.

Wailer Bill Brown explained: “Aside from our regular slots at The Duke of Wellington and The Sussex Yacht Club, we have had a busy summer, appearing at Shoreham River Fest, The Dark Star Hopfest and a wedding vow renewal.

“Now, in spite of the weather becoming colder, things are hotting up. We sang at Shoreham late-night shopping last Tuesday. On Thursday we entertained Shoreham and Southwick Rotary Club at Brio and on Saturday, we did our stuff at The Newhaven Yacht Club.”

Next year starts even bigger for the Wailers, with the opportunity to support well-known local folk group Shady Grove.

Bill said: “We’ll be performing at The Ropetackle Arts Centre on January 16, our first time with footlights.”
