A ‘be prepared’ yellow warning has been issued, for early morning until around 9pm.

The warning has now been updated to include a threat of 60mph gusts along the most exposed coastlines.

The unseasonably strong winds are forecast to be accompanied by heavy, blustery showers.

The strongest winds will lead to large waves around exposed coastlines.

The Met Office says that gusts of 40-45mph inland and stronger along the coast are expected.

A spokesperson said: “Please be aware that these may lead to disruption to transport, and in view of the time of the year there is increased potential for disruption to outdoor activities.”

Sunday is likely to still see some gusts but only of around 30mph and will have a mixture of showers and sunny spells.
