Weather: Sunny spells expected ahead of Battle of Britain flypast

Aviation enthusiasts will be paying close attention to the weather forecast ahead of today’s Battle of Britain commemorative flypasts.

Despite a wet start with long periods of heavy rain the weather is predicted to clear as the day progresses.

The Met Office says some sunny spells will develop through the morning, but there will also scattered showers across the region, which could be heavy in places.

It should become mostly dry later in the afternoon and evening with a maximum temperature of 19°C.

The first planes are due to take off from Goodwood Aerodrome at midday, heading in a circular route from west to east.
