Visitors flock to Arundel Castle
Sussex residents' favourite landmark in the county is celebrating record visitor numbers.
Arundel Castle recorded another successful season in 2016, welcoming more than 176,000 visitors through its gates, a five per cent increase on 2015.
The 11th-century castle offers more than 40 acres of grounds and gardens for visitors to explore, has been open to visitors for centuries.
Staff attributed the success to the castle’s packed events schedule which drew crowds throughout the season, for instance its world-famous jousting competition.
Arundel Castle was recently named Sussex residents’ favourite landmark in the county in a survey commissioned by heritage building company Rudridge.
