THREE 70th anniversaries are being marked at this year’s RAFA Shoreham Airshow, taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

he Royal Air Forces Association was formed in 1943, the same year as the 617 Squadron’s Dambusters raid on the Ruhr Valley dams.

It is also the 70th anniversary of the arrival of the US 8th Army Air Force in Europe.

Airshow organiser Derek Harber said it will be the 24th RAFA Shoreham Airshow, which has raised more than £1.8 million so far for the RAFA Wings Appeal.

More than 40,000 people are expected over the two days to watch six hours of flying each day and view more than 70 trade stands and charity stalls.
