VIDEO: Second WW2 explosive device detonated in controlled explosion
A second WW2 device discovered during construction of the Rampion offshore windfarm has been safely detonated in a controlled explosion.
The detonation happened on Friday morning at about 10.30, with the first device having been disposed of in the same way on Tuesday, August 9 in the afternoon.
Two devices were discovered along the offshore cable route for the Rampion project during surveys carried out as protocol during offshore construction.
Thought to date from the WW2, the explosives were located on the seabed, 3km off Lancing Beach at a depth of 13 metres.
